Timothy David Baker Endowed Scholarship in Marine and Freshwater Biology

Timothy David Baker, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, the 23rd of December 2009, at the age of 39.

Tim was born on the 6th of January 1970, in Houston, Texas. He attended The Kinkaid School and graduated from Robert E. Lee high school, where he excelled both academically and athletically. Tim attended Yale University, where he was a member of the football team and the SAE fraternity.

Always yearning for Texas, Tim transferred to the University of Texas where he graduated with a Plan II honors degree. Following graduation from college, Tim became a technical writer and was working as a consultant at the time of his death. Tim was committed to helping those less fortunate, mentoring in the HISD’s Houston Real Men Read program, volunteering in Children’s Cancer hospital events, feeding the homeless and volunteering for numerous other charitable causes.

Tim was a lifelong member of St. Philip Presbyterian Church in Houston. Tim was a passionate fisherman and outdoorsman. An outstanding cook, he generously prepared and shared his fish and game with family and friends.
