Carol and John Schweitzer Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Business

John Schweitzer, who is not a UT alumnus, said he donated the Carol and John Schweitzer Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Business for a number of reasons. First, to memorialize his late wife, Carol.

Secondly, to recognize the work that Dean Tom Gilligan has done to energize and elevate the McCombs School of Business, as well as the generosity of Red McCombs to the school and to the entire university.

And lastly, John said he wanted to respond to a challenge grant at the school made by Woody Hunt, a very close friend whose philanthropy has been transformative in El Paso, where John previously lived for 20 years before moving to Austin in 1988.

John hopes this endowment will help UT, and McCombs in particular, by giving some of the most deserving, qualified students a better chance to get ahead.
